Personnel Department Services

The Personnel Department handles the City's human resource functions for more than 4,500 employees. It provides employee recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, training and benefits services. The department negotiates and administers labor contracts for the City's three unions: Fraternal Order of Police, International Association of Fire Fighters and The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. It also handles the City's Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity programs.

Departmental Summary

The Office of Workforce Development administers the Workforce Investment Act and Youthbuild programs. Services include skills assessment, basic skills and GED instruction, career planning and counseling, tuition assistance and job search assistance.

The Office of Workforce Development is a partner in Workforce Oklahoma, a united effort by local, state, and federal employment and training programs. Workforce Oklahoma's Downtown Center at One North Walker is a one-stop career center designed to help employers and job seekers meet all their training and employment needs. Free services include job search assistance, training, resume development, online job search assistance, and employer services.

Here's what we can do for you
We are the part of your City government that uses federal and private sector dollars to help our citizens get to work.

If you are out of work or need training to enter the work force, we can help. Our services include skills and needs assessment, job training and job placement services.

The support we provide may be as simple as:
showing you how to prepare your resume
pointing you to jobs in your field
helping you with on-the-job training
finding you financial aid so you can go back to school

Depending on your situation, we can help with:

tools or specialized work clothes
other financial necessities
